Motorcycle rally, events made possible by businesses, helpers

Posted: Tuesday, August 31, 2004

Recently, the Goldwing Road Riders Association (GWRRA), Chapter P hosted its second annual Midnight Sun Rally in Soldotna.

In addition to riders from Fairbanks, Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley, we had riders from Florida, New York, Iowa and Nebraska in attendance. During the rally, we had rides to Homer, with stops along the way, and to Captain Cook State Recreation Area. The Goldwing Riders also participated in Soldotna's Progress Days Parade, during which our precision drill team performed in front of the judges' stand at the Borough Building. Our organization received second place in the organizational category. We had a successful rally and are planning for next year.

However, we could not have done it without the generosity of the city of Soldotna, which, for the second year in a row, allowed us to use the Soldotna Creek Park area and this year provided bathroom facilities, as well.

The following businesses contributed to our success through their generous contributions: The Milepost Alaska Travel Guide, Seaman Apartment Rentals, Colton Underground Sprinklers, Arby's of the Kenai Peninsula, Spenard Builders Supply, Shrine Club of Kenai-Soldotna, Alaska Communications Systems, Happy Valley Bar and Cafe, Pizza Boys, Hobo Jim Alaska Entertainment and Mark LaBrell Music and Dancing. A special thank you to Tim Navarre, who personally helped get our banners updated by Sherman's Signs and to Boy Scout Troop No. 151, who did the cooking for us.

In appreciation, a heartfelt thank you to all for helping make our rally successful.
