Soldotna resident Dolores Glode McGillis died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, in Whitefish, Mont. She was 68.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Mrs. McGillis was born in Anaconda, Mont., on April 3, 1936, where she was raised on the family farm.
She married Norman (Jim) McGillis on Aug. 8, 1957, in Butte, Mont., later moving to Sitka. They started a family in 1966 with the adoption of their daughter, Jennifer McGillis Sibson, and their son, Sean Kevin McGillis, in 1969.
The family moved to Soldotna in 1978. Mrs. McGillis worked at and attended Kenai Peninsula College for more than 20 years. She was dedicated to her church, Soldotna Bible Chapel, where she has many close and loving friends.
She enjoyed painting, singing, tending her flowers and learning.
"Her greatest joy other than the Lord was her family, close and extended alike," her family said.
Mrs. McGillis was preceded in death by her parents, George and Barbara Glode.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer McGillis Sibson of Whitefish; son, Sean Kevin McGillis of Anchorage; grandchildren, Samantha, Dylan and Pilar Sibson of Whitefish and Brandon, Brianna and Joanna McGillis of Anchorage; sister, Adeline (Maria) Plakakis of Johnstown, Pa.; brother, Edward Lawrence Glode of Warm Springs, Mont.; niece, Nikoleta Plakakis; nephews, Yiorgos, Nikolaos, Ilias and Pavlos Plakakis; and many extended family members and friends.
Arrangements were made by Longfellow-Finnegan Funeral Home in Anaconda.
