Garage sale fund-raiser scheduled

There will be a garage sale fund-raiser from 9 to 6 a.m. Saturday at Isom's Cafe on Funny River Road. All proceeds will go toward purchasing building supplies for Kevin and Jenny Johnson. Kevin has cancer.

Kennel club agility trials slated

The Kenai Kennel Club will hold a three-day dog agility trial starting Saturday at the Kenai Little League ballfields on South Spruce Street. The competition begins at 9 a.m. each day and generally wraps up about 3 p.m.

Spectators are encouraged to come and watch as handlers direct dogs around an obstacle course against the clock. Bring a chair and be prepared for the weather. Dogs not entered in the trial are not allowed on the grounds.

KKC also is gearing up for fall classes at its facility in the C Plaza in Kenai. Classes include agility, puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate and advance obedience, rally and conformation.

Sign-ups also are being taken for a Canine Good Citizen class. For more information or to sign up for a class, call the club at 335-2552.

Health center to close for holiday

Kenai Public Health Center will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day. It will reopen for regular service Tuesday.

Developmental screenings set

Infant and preschool developmental screenings will be held Sept. 9 at Ninilchik School. To make an appointment, call Robin Evans at 567-3301.

Fall dinner, raffle fund-raiser planned

The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center will host its annual fall roundup fund-raiser at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 at the center. Smoked prime rib dinner and a raffle for a hand-carved goose are planned. Entertainment will be provided by the Spur Highway Spankers and the Northstar cloggers and line dancers. Door prizes will be available. Admission prices are $16 for adults and $8 for children ages 12 and younger. For more information or to make reservations, call 262-2322.

LeeShore radiothon fund-raiser slated

The 21st annual KRSM-LeeShore Radiothon fund-raiser will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12 on KSRM Radio 92 AM. Cash and in-kind donations pledged during the radiothon support the agency's services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and its community and school prevention programs.
