Butchering demonstration today

4-H leader Carrol Martin will give a butchering demonstration at 3:30 p.m. today at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank at 33955 Community College Drive in Soldotna. He will cut up animals raised by 4-H members. It is open to the public. For more information, call 262-3111.

Senior center to hold steak dinner

The Sterling Senior Center will hold a steak dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the center featuring steak, scalloped potatoes, sweetened carrots, rolls, salad, desserts and beverages. The cost is $12.50 per person.

Dog trials Saturday

The Kenai Kennel Club will hold a dog agility trial Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Kenai Little League Ball Fields on Spruce Street in Kenai. Competition begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday and Monday. Spectators are asked to be prepared for all weather and bring something to sit on. Archers take aim

The Kenai Peninsula Archers will host a 3D Archery shoot from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Peninsula Archers range on North Arc Loop Road one block off of the Sterling Highway. The cost will be $20 for non-members, members are for free. Membership to join the club is $20 for individuals or $40 for a family. For more information, call 262-7375.

Caregiver support group to meet

The National Family Caregiver Support Program will hold a caregiver peer support group meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Sterling Senior Center. For more information, call 262-1280.

Special Olympics sets events

Special Olympics will hold the following fundraisers to benefit local athletes: A bake sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 8 at the Soldotna Safeway; and a potluck from 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna.

Cameras, photo printers sought

The Soldotna Rotary Club is seeking donations of working digital cameras and photo printers for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's art program. Equipment may be dropped off at Sweeney's Clothing or Joe Kashi law office. For more information, call 398-0480.
