ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Three days after the primary election the Green Party is looking for a new gubernatorial candidate.
Party officials announced Friday that Desa Jacobsson, who ran unopposed in the primary, has dropped out of the race.
In a letter to party chair Steve Cleary, Jacobsson said she was withdrawing from the race to attend to family matters. She did not elaborate.
Jacobsson recommended that her running mate, Diane Benson, be chosen as a replacement.
Cleary said the party's statewide council will meet soon to start the process of finding a replacement candidate.
