Nikiski resident Neoma Bryant Coulter died Wednesday, August 29, 2001, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna of a heart attack. She was 92.
Memorial services will be held Friday at the Nikiski Senior Center at 3 p.m. Reverend Brad Cason will officiate. Her ashes will be placed with her son Gene, according to her wishes.
Mrs. Coulter was born April 20, 1909, in Greenbrier Country, W.Va. She was the daughter of F.W. and Ida Bryant.
She married Nick Coulter on April 12, 1929 in Lewisburg, W.Va. They had one son, Eugene Coulter, a longtime Nikiski homesteader. Nick and Neoma lived in various states while Nick worked construction jobs as a heavy equipment operator. They settled in Highland, Calif., where Nick died Sept. 13, 1979. After Nick's death, Mrs. Coulter moved to Nikiski to live with her son Gene. She lived with him until his death on May 4, 1994.
After her son's death, she moved into the home of her former daughter-in-law, Roxie Little, where she resided until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick, her son, Gene, and her parents.
Mrs. Coulter is survived by granddaughter Diane Mansfield, grandson Paul Coulter, great-granddaughter Christine Mansfield, nieces and nephews in West Virginia, Roxie and Les Little and their families, and her many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Nikiski Senior Center.
Arrangements were made by Witzleben Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
