Soroptimist to meet

Soroptimist International of the Kenai Peninsula will meet at 5:30 p.m. today at the Golden Dragon Restaurant in Soldotna. For more information, call Sharon Geeslin at 262-7480.

Drivers' safety class planned

There will be an American Association of Retired Persons drivers' safety program offered from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai River Center. The program is certified for ticket dismissals and point reductions through the state of Alaska. It also is possible to receive auto insurance discounts for completing the program. Donor appreciation day scheduled

The Blood Bank of Alaska will host a donor appreciation barbecue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at Kenai Peninsula College. Community members are encouraged to attend and meet new staff members.

Auction fund-raiser set

The Boys and Girls Club will hold its 17th annual auction fund-raiser at 5 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Kenai Mall in the old Carrs Store. Tickets are available at all clubhouses.

Child care will be available from 5 to 11:30 p.m. at the Kenai Clubhouse for children ages 6-12. Cost is $15 per child and includes pizza and activities. Cab service also will be available. For more information, call 283-2682.

Social Security reps to visit area

Social Security Administration representatives will be on the Kenai Peninsula from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 14 at Seward City Hall; from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at Kenai City Hall; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Homer Senior Citizens Center. Phone card donations sought

The Alaska District of the Postal Service has extended its campaign called Let Freedom Ring that allows customers to purchase a $10 USPS Global International phone card and donate it to Alaska military personnel serving overseas through the end of September.

Cards may be purchased and donated at the post office in Soldotna, Kasilof, Homer, Kenai and Seward.
