ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Anchorage police said a worker at a Midtown McDonald's restaurant was killed Sunday in the restaurant's trash compactor in an apparent suicide.
The name of the man was not released.
Co-workers said the 23-year-old man had talked earlier in the day of killing himself. He went on a break at 5 p.m. When he did not return to work by 8 p.m. McDonald's management called police.
As police were en route to the restaurant, the man's body was found by a worker inside the trash compactor.
Police say they don't know if the man activated the trash compactor or was hiding in it until another employee took garbage to be crushed.
