Christian moms meet in Soldotna

Moms In Touch International Alaska will sponsor a day of fellowship and leadership training Sept. 17 at Soldotna Bible Chapel. Fellowship and coffee will begin at 10 a.m. Jan Shockey, Moms In Touch International's Pacific regional director, will present a message titled "Building a wall of prayer around your children and their schools." Leadership training will be offered from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Participants should bring a bag lunch. No registration is needed. There is no fee for the event, but an offering will be taken. No child care will be provided. For more information, call Lesly Gordon at 262-6089 or Lori Wagoner at 283-0551.

Church offers AWANA program for youth

AWANA, a children's program for kids ages 3 through sixth grade, will be offered Wednesday nights at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church, 44175 Kalifornsky Beach Road, beginning Sept. 18. For more information, call 262-6442.

Old Timer's Reunion scheduled

The annual Old Timer's Reunion will be Sept. 12 at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Soup and salad will be available starting at 11:30 a.m., and a turkey dinner will be served at noon. Cost is $4, and preregistration is encouraged. For more information, call the center at 283-4156.

Boys and Girls Club plans annual auction

Tickets are available for the Boys and Girls Club's 15th annual Auction Gala. This year's auction, sponsored by Tesoro Alaska, will be Sept. 14 at the Kenai Mall, directly across from the Boys and Girls Club in Kenai. The event will be filled with food, fun, prizes and a wide variety of items up for bid ranging from artwork to tools, crusies, trips, dining and entertainment.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a dinner prepared by Bubba's Restauraunt, followed by a silent auction, then a live auction. Cost is $35 per person or $400 for a table of eight. Tickets may be purchased at the Kenai office.

Business owners, artists and crafts workers are encouraged to support the Boys and Girls Club by donating items for the auctions. Donations are being accepted at the Kenai administrative office at 11247 Frontage Road in Kenai. Donors also can call 283-2682 to have donations picked up.

Homer Community School offers fall courses

The fall course program booklet for Homer Community School will be available soon, but registration has already begun on some early classes, including:

Fencing -- meets Mondays and Thursdays beginning Monday;

Pediatric CPR and first-aid -- meets Saturday;

Basic life aupport -- meets Sept. 21; and

Garden basket weaving -- meets Sept. 21.

A natural resources technology applications course focusing on resource management, biotechnology, leadership development and wildlife management also will be available for high school credit.
