Driving safety class offered
An AARP safety driving program will be offered Friday and Saturday at the Kenai River Center. The course is certified by the state of Alaska to dismiss traffic tickets. All drivers are invited. Health group to meet
The "Yes on Two-Health Care for You" group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Frosos in Soldotna. The topic will be the hospital expansion and recruiting volunteers. For more information, call Amy at 260-5672.
Help available for day care providers
If you are a family day care home provider in the central Kenai Peninsula area and would like information on how to be reimbursed for part of the cost of food served, call the Child Care Food Program at 283-4707.
Grandparents day breakfast planned
The Cook Inlet Lions Club will host a Grandparents Day breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Sunday at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center on Island Lake Road. There is no fee. For more information, call Heidi at 776-7652.

Discount cards benefit cancer fund
The Soroptimist International of the Twin Cities is selling discount cards to benefit its cancer fund, which is administered by Central Peninsula General Hospital. The funds go to help area women in need of assistance. Cards cost $10, contain discounts for many area businesses and are valid for one year. Head Start registration under way
Sterling Head Start is accepting applications for the 2003-04 school year. Children must be have been age 3 before Aug. 15, or 4 or 5 and not eligible for kindergarten.
Classes run Tuesdays through Fridays. Morning sessions will run from 9 a.m. to noon, with an afternoon session from 12:30 to 4 p.m. There is no fee and transportation is included. For more information, call 260-7446.
