Firefighters showed leadership, dedication to dangerous job

Posted: Friday, September 03, 2004

The recent rains may damper the fire and smoke from the Tustemena Lake shores, and the sky will hopefully return to blue again, but, before I forget it, I want to express my respect and admiration for the Forest Service personnel fighting the fires.

Vean Noble and Matthew from Homer were effective leaders and bestowed confidence to locals as well as their teams about fighting the fire. The youthful Prineville Oregon Hot Shot team displayed a refreshing vigor for honor, duty and dedication to their task that I have not seen in some time now.

My hats off to all these men and women who deserve a "well done" from all of us.
