The Skyview volleyball team lost a Northern Lights Conference match in Kodiak 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20 on Friday before coming back in a nonconference match on Saturday for a 25-18, 25-14, 25-18 victory.
In the Friday match, Missy Massey had 13 kills, four points and was 5-of-5 on defense, Brittney Meyer had six kills and was 4-of-4 on defense, Candace Penrod had 14 assists and eight points, and Jessie Bilderback had four points.
Skyview coach Sheila Kupferschmid said Kodiak middle hitter Alyssa Horn gave the Panthers problems.
"Then we did some adjustments in the second match," said Kupferschmid, whose team is 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the league. "We changed up our defense and moved Missy around a little so she matched up fairly well against Horn. We also served the ball well and passed well."
The coach said Megan Revis did a great job on Saturday filling in for an injured starter, while Kupferschmid also said Meyer had a great game Saturday. The coach also said middle blocker Jaxson also was solid Saturday.
Meyer had 10 kills, Massey had nine kills, Bilderback had three kills and Hill had two kills. Bilderback also had nine points and was 8 of 11 on defense. Penrod had eight assists.
"It was a rowdy crowd. The (Skyview) football team was there and that made it fun," Kupferschmid said. "There was a lot of school spirit for Skyview at Kodiak. It sure helps to go over there with another team where you have fans to play for."
