Who benefits from CPH sale?

One need not look at Washington D.C. to see political ambition, corruption, deception, and downright greed. We've got Washington D.C. in our own back yard.

Cast Mayor Carey as Minority Leader, John Boehner. Cast the Hospital Corporation board as Congressional Democrats. Cast the Borough Assembly as House Republicans and concerned conservatives. Cast the Service Board as Ethics and Oversight. And cast none other than Ryan Smith as President "Tax and Spend" Obama.

I am encouraged that Mayor Dave Carey has moved decisively to oppose Smith's fast-track program to sell our hospital without so much as a vote of the people. In Tuesday's article (Aug. 31), Smith says that a delay may spoil the sweet deal he has cooked up. I once bought a car from a salesman who said the same thing.

Caveat Emptor, "buyer beware. Smith's urgency to go forward ought to raise some red flags. Better to err on the side of caution and always better to set the issues in truth before the people.

If Smith is so urgent and our Mayor so cautious, one must ask who is being benefitted by going forth quickly. As with Obama's schemes, those who are pressured to accept what is being offered will one ask how they could have been so mistaken.
