UNALASKA (AP) -- Good summer weather as helped contractors make rapid progress on several big construction projects here.
Construction of a new elementary school is well ahead of its original timeline and construction of a new cargo dock is nearly complete, city officials said.
Dave Kemp, Unalaska's public works director, attributes the success to a dry summer and good contractors.
''You can have the best weather in the world, but if the contractor isn't organized it isn't going to work,'' Kemp told The Dutch Harbor Fisherman.
In addition to the city projects, work is moving forward on the Ounalashka Native Corp.'s effort to turn an old World War II building into a visitor center.
