Basketball registration slated

The Boys and Girls Club will hold registration for its high school basketball league Wednesday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at the club. The season will run Oct. 2 through Nov. 11. The cost is $46 for members and $66 for nonmembers, price includes membership.

ACEMS accepting nominations

The Governor's Alaska Council on Emergency Medical Services (ACEMS) is now accepting nominations for its annual EMS awards.

The governor, ACEMS and the state EMS office wish to recognize deserving individuals and services that have shown commitment and dedication to providing emergency medical services in Alaska.

There are eight EMS award categories including: consumer/citizen, provider, researcher/administrator, Longenbaugh Memorial (EMS physician), Melissa Ann Peters Memorial (nurse), EMS educator, outstanding ambulance service award and special commendations.

Nominations should come in letter form and be no longer that 500 words, with relevant newspaper articles or other materials, including a photo of the nominee if possible.

Forms can be obtained by contacting EMS Awards, Community Health and EMS section, P.O. Box 110616, Juneau, AK 99811-0616. The deadline is Sept. 12

Awards will be presented Nov. 9, 10 and 11 at the 25th Alaska EMS Symposium held at the Egan Convention Center in Anchorage.
