Beekeeper a buzzin’

BeeKeeper’s Educational Exchange on the Peninsula (B-KEEP) will meet at 6 p.m. today at Soldotna Middle School. Topics will be wintering bees and planning other winter discussion topics. It is open to the public. For more information, call Rosy Thompson at 262-6084.

Fish fry fundraiser planned

The Peninsula Moose Lodge will host a fish fry fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the lodge. Proceeds will benefit fire victim Bill Dillon.

Community coalition meeting set

The Sterling Community Coalition will meet Thursday at Sterling Elementary School’s library. The topic will be how to find new members in the community. It is open to the public. For more information and meeting time, call Chris Thorne at 262-4944, ext. 238.

Women voters to meet

The Central Peninsula League of Women Voters will meet at noon Friday at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Attendees are asked to bring a brown bag lunch. It is open to the public. For information, call Lois at 260-3111.

Cruise fundraiser set to sail

The Kenai Peninsula United Way will hold a Fox Island cruise fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Seward. Dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions are planned. The cost is $50 per person. Tickets are available at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center, Seward Wells Fargo Bank or by calling (907) 224-5604 or the United Way office at 283-9500.

Historical society to meet

The Kenai Historical Society will meet at 1:15 p.m. Sunday downstairs at the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant. The featured speaker will be lifelong Alaskan Peggy Arness. Arness moved from Unga, Alaska to Kenai to teach and went on to homestead, help run a dock, serve as executive director of the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and establish a local office for Alaska’s congressional delegation.

Walking fundraiser slated

ABC Crisis Pregnancy Center will host its annual Walk for Life at 2 p.m. Sunday. Pledge forms are available at the center.

A barbecue, games, prizes and fellowship are some of the planned activities. For more information and the route, call 283-9062.

Library issues toy warning

Kenai Community Library asks parents to return any bendable dog and cat toys to the library that were given away this summer during the Summer Reading Program. The toys may contain unsafe levels of lead. State health officials issued a consumer health alert regarding the toys. For more information, call the library at 283-4378.
