Photo feature: Quilters for Peninsula Heroes

The VFW post #10046 in Soldotna treated the quilters to a luncheon at noon on July 14. The group has made 25 quilts to be given to returning service men and women who come from the Kenai Peninsula and have recently served overseas.

Pat Hawkins, post commander, had arranged the lunch and gave out certificates of appreciation to all. Among those attending were representatives from the Funny River Quilters, Thursday group, The Thread Benders of Funny River and many other community women.

The guest of the day, was Chad Bowles, who recently returned from Afghanistan and is preparing for another tour there.

He was the first recipient of one of our quilts, he had a choice, it was interesting the pattern he chose is called, "Trip Around the World."
