Clyde W. "C.W." Reynolds

Kenai resident Clyde W. Reynolds, more commonly known as C.W., died at his home of natural causes Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001. He was 74.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Kenai, Mile 12.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway. An open-casket viewing will be held Saturday between 11 a.m. and noon, and a closed-casket visitation will be between noon and 1 p.m. Pastor Dean Nichols will officiate. Pallbearers will be his family members Mike Reynolds, Lance Reynolds, Scott Reynolds, Ron Palm, Robert Pevan, James Musgrove and Jeb McLeod.

Mr. Reynolds was born Sept. 15, 1926, to William and Rose Reynolds in Jeffersonville, Ind. He was the oldest of seven children. When he was 17, he signed up with the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Pacific during World War II. After he returned from the Marines, he married Doris Jane LaMaster, and they had 11 children. He also attended the University of Louisville.

In 1975, his family moved to Alaska and homesteaded in Willow.

He was a member of the American Legion, and the First Baptist Church in Kenai. Mr. Reynolds enjoyed golf, carving, art, travel and spending time with his family and friends.

His family said, "He was truly loved and will greatly be missed."

Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Jane Reynolds; his sisters Norma Littrell, Carolyn Ray, Joyce Cunningham and Jane Snelling; his 11 children and their spouses Sandy and Pete Pevan, Mike and Barbara Reynolds, Lance and Debbie Reynolds, Carolyn Reynolds, Linda Reynolds, Theresa McLeod, Scott and Amanda Reynolds, Laura and Ernie Pruette, Tracy and Ron Palm and Lana and Kale Kuivikko; his 31 grandchildren and their spouses; Bob and Keri Pevan, Rick and Janna Pevan, Tamara Pevan, Andy Reynolds, Sara Reynolds, Sandy and Greg Goody, Tara Kuivikko, C.W. Reynolds II, Melissa Reynolds, Lucas and Kim Reynolds, Rachel George, Julie and Chris Anderson, Christine Cunningham, Katy and Tommy Angelbrandt, Elizabeth Phillips, Mary Phillips, Jebadiah McLeod, Adam McLeod, Kari McLeod, James Musgrove, Lydia Reynolds, Eric Pruette, Megan Pruette, Tiffany and Andrew Lout and Courtney Palm; 12 great-grandchildren Jake, Katlin and Kaulen Pevan; Trisha Pevan; Kevin, Alex and Austin Reynolds; Josh and Vanessa Angelbrandt; Mitchell Goody; Nathaniel Kuivikko; and Trinity Lout and many other family members spread throughout the country.

Arrangements were by the Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
