Council offers art fellowship

The Alaska State Council on the Arts is accepting applications for the 2007 Connie Boochever Fellowship in visual arts. The $2,500 fellowship is for emerging artists pursuing an art form on an ongoing basis. The deadline to apply is Friday.

Get paid to create

The Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Project Awards are open for application. Alaska artists may apply for up to $5,000 grants for emerging, mid-career or mature artists to accomplish specific, short-term projects that have a clear benefit to the artist and the development of his/her work. The postmark deadline to apply is Saturday.

Teen writers sought

The Clarion is seeking students in grades nine through 12 from central peninsula high schools interested in writing for its Verbatim column. The column is designed to let teens voice their opinions on topics that affect their daily life home, family, school, peers, social pressures, ect. The column length is 300 words minimum and 500 words maximum.

Deadline to submit a sample column for consideration is Sept. 14. Submissions must include first and last name, school, grade, mailing address and contact phone number. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered. Entries must be e-mailed to

Artwork wanted

The Pratt Museum in Homer is seeking donations from artists and businesses for its annual Ritz fundraiser. The deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 17. The event will be held Nov. 3. Proceeds will support the museum's educational exhibits and programs
