Corporations buying clean air? Excellent, let's support them in getting really serious about the entire planet's clean air by encouraging them to support the Clean Air Act.
Until that is the norm, let's hold the line with existing law until companies broadly awaken to this global good of breathing clean air by supporting the strength of current EPA regulations so that they may quickly and completely respond to scientific findings as they are released. Today, I read about a prominent naysayer of global climate change is now declaring that $100 billion annually ought to be invested in responding to its threat.
Innovative corporations see this as an opportunity to move in a precautionary manner in their supply chains, shipping platforms, distribution channels, and end-use reuse. Public health implications are appearing to be severe already: record breaking heat waves and drought in Russia; extreme weather; wildfires; flooding in China and Pakistan; and increases in ground-level ozone linked to asthma.
Time can be on our side. Our lungs have a pressing need for us to call our representatives and urge them to support EPA in protecting the air we all breathe. From here on the Kenai, I say thanks EPA!
