Women's retreat today

Point To Hope Ministries Holy Spirit Encounter Women's Retreat will be held today through Sunday at Solid Rock Bible Camp. The retreat will feature Nancy Haney and eight guest speakers. The cost is $110.

Matrix Church to meet

The Matrix Church will meet at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Peninsula Christian Center behind The Salvation Army Store in Soldotna. This service is designed for parents, grandparents and kids, but all are welcome.

Games, puppets, music, contests, prizes and stories are planned. Grocery bags are available, as well as, a chance to receive a gas card. The theme will be "Back to School."

Church celebrates 50 years

Kenai New Life Assembly of God will celebrate its past 50 years at 6 p.m. Saturday at the church at 209 Princess Street. On Sunday at 10:30 a.m. it will give a presentation "Looking forward: Vision for our Future." Highlights will include former pastors and photographs starting at July 1957. It is open to the public.

Children's group planned

The Soldotna United Methodist Church will hold an after-school program from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Children may arrive as early as 3:30 p.m. Children in grades kindergarten through fourth may attend. Youth in grades five and up will be used as helpers.

The curriculum is called "Live Big" and help children coming to know the love of God through Jesus, music, art, theater, dance, laughter, sign language, discussion, imagination, entertainment, sight, sound, graphics, hands-on activities, stickers, games, crafts, snacks, Bible stories, worship, prayer and helping students grow as children of God by taking what they learn into their everyday lives.

Aglow schedules meetings

Kenai Aglow will hold the following meetings:

* Monday at 7 p.m. at The Salvation Army at 201 N. Forest Dr. in Kenai. The featured speaker will be Alice Tsoi, president of Aglow in China.

* Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at The Salvation Army 201 N. Forest Dr, in Kenai. The featured speaker will be Debbie Grimes. For more information, call Lisa 260-3159.

Children's Bible club begins

Sterling Baptist Church will begin a weekly children's Bible club from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the church on the Sterling Highway and the corner of Swanson River Road. Some of the planned activities are games, prizes, Bible stories and songs. Youth in grades kindergarten through sixth may attend.

Soldotna Bible study slated

Soldotna Day Aglow will begin a Beth Moore bible study on Daniel at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at Peninsula Christian Center at the corner of Cohoe and Farnsworth in Soldotna behind The Salvation Army. The topic will be how to develop integrity in an enticing world and will explore prophecy from the time of Daniel through the second coming of Christ.

Coffee, fellowship and a door prize drawing will be held at 9:30 a.m. Babysitting will be provided.

Clothes Quarters open

The Clothes Quarters is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays at 225 S. Spruce St. in the back of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Kenai. The store sells clothes and free trade coffee. For more information, call Margaret at 283-9371 or Joan at 283-4555.

Thursday Bible study set

Kenai First Baptist Church will begin a Bible study "A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place" at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church fellowship hall. New footage and updated graphics are included. Child care will be available

Grief support offered

Soldotna United Methodist Church holds a "Life Love Loss" support group from noon to 1 p.m. on the first and third Monday of the month at the church at 158 S. Binkley St. Any type of loss is open for discussion in the group. Attendees are asked to bring a brown bag lunch.

Financial study group slated

Financial Peace University will hold 13-week study groups that will teach attendees how to approach their finances from Biblical principals Tuesday at Kenai Fellowship Church. The two hour meeting will consist of a video presentation by Dave Ramsey followed by workbook group question and answer sessions. Some personal homework assignments will be given

Some of the topics will be saving for college, saving for retirement, credit card debt, stewardship of money and learning how to control money resources.

It is open to the public. The cost is $99 for those who do not finish the course or free for those who complete it.

Old Testament seminar set

The Soldotna Church of the Nazarene will hold a "Walk Thru The Bible" (old Testament) seminar from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 at the church at 229 E. Beluga Ave. Preregistration is required. Deadline to register is Oct. 4. The cost is $17 per person.
