Education group to meet today

The Kenai Association for the Education of Young Children will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Kenai Peninsula Community College in the learning center. Parents, teachers, child-care providers or any others interested in the care and education of young children are invited to attend.

The KAYEYC will meet the second Monday of each month. For more information, call Jennifer at 260-1950.

Kenai chamber meeting planned

The Kenai chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Wednesday at Paradisos. John Gilbreth of Evergreen will be the featured speaker. Lunch is $10.50. For more information, call 283-7989.

Benefit garage sale planned in Kasilof

A benefit garage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at the Kasilof Community Church on the Sterling Highway and Kalifornsky Beach Road in Kasilof. For more information, call Mary at 262-4260.

Twin Cities celebration, blood drive planned

The mayors of Soldotna and Kenai will hold the Mayors Salute to Community Service and Twin Cities Blood Drive. The blood drive is from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Soldotna Sports Center. Immediately following the drive, Soldotna Mayor Dave Carey and Kenai Mayor John Williams will recognize people who have served their community and country. The ceremony was planned as an opportunity for a time of remembrance and recognition. The public is invited to attend.

Dog classes starting at PenDOG

Fall classes are getting under way at Peninsula Dog Obedience Group in Soldotna. Planned classes include beginning, intermediate, advanced and competition obedience and agility and an introduction to retriever work. Puppy kindergarten meets weekly and is always open to new students. For more information or to sign up, call 262-6846.

Homer to offer life-saving courses

KCHS to hold quilt raffle

The Kenai Central High School football boosters are selling raffle tickets for a handmade quilt. The drawing will take place Sept. 20 at the homecoming game. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased from any booster member. For more information, call 335-0123.
