Congratulations to music teacher Erin Southwick for receiving a grant award from the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, which will purchase a selection of band instruments. In notifying Ms. Southwick, the program director noted that she had "demonstrated an outstanding dedication to helping (her) music program and (her) students achieve their greatest potential."
Picture day is Thursday.
The PTA will meet at 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the library. Parents are encouraged to attend. New officers will be elected. Day care will be provided. A family PTA membership is $10, and proceeds will benefit activities throughout the school year.
Families are encouraged to support the school fund-raiser in promoting the Innisbrook sales. The proceeds will benefit the salaries of the librarian and the playground aide. Family and friends can order online at Innisbrook.com.
School T-shirts and sweatshirts will be for sale Thursday afternoons. If your size or desired style is not available, one can be ordered.
The PTA will hold a "Garden Party" at 10 a.m. Saturday at the school. The PTA is trying to help beautify the school grounds, and cleaning up the flower beds is its first project. Donation of extra flowers and soil from area gardens are needed.
Ms. Buben's third- and fourth-grade class "ate" their model of the earth after learning about and measuring the layers of half an apple.
