ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A 6-year-old Napakiak boy was being treated at an Anchorage hospital after a boat collided with his family's skiff on the Kuskokwim River.

Alaska State Troopers in Bethel are investigating the hit-and-run collision Thursday that injured Isaiah Parka-Harp.

John Parka, 23, told troopers that he and five others, including four children, were heading upriver a few miles below Oscarville when their skiff was struck by the boat, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The boat driver fled after the collision.

Parka-Harp, who suffered head injuries, was taken to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp. hospital in Bethel then flown to Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. The boy was listed good condition Sunday.

Meanwhile, troopers have sent a description of the boat and its driver to area villages.
