Organizers appreciate support for contest

Posted: Friday, September 10, 2004

Sue Gill with Alaska's Hairlines, Karen Cowan with Crosshairs of Alaska, Glen and Becky Martin and the Peninsula Center Mall merchants would like to thank our community, contestants, judges, volunteers and sponsors for making our nonprofit-sponsored Sing From the Heart contest a wonderful success. This event could not have happened without their participation and teamwork.

The contest was a huge sacrifice for all those who gave up each and every Saturday all summer long. Singers had to learn at least two new songs every week to compete. Our esteemed panel of judges were just awesome, offering gentle words of correction to all contestants to help improve their talent. We watched each contestant grow from these words of wisdom.

In the end, it sometimes looked like we were passing up good talent, but we would ask you to remember, each of these singers were excellent and have beautiful voices, which will take them as far as they want to go with their musical talents.

Thank you again to everyone who shared a piece of their hearts in this wonderful Sing From the Heart contest.

We especially want to thank all those who donated money to this event, which enabled us to give three cash prizes. We were so fortunate to have this opportunity to work with all and hope to see you again in 2005 for the second annual Sing From the Heart contest.
