Gulf states need money more than Alaska

Posted: Friday, September 09, 2005

The state of Alaska will realize a tax bonanza as the result of Hurricane Katrina. Our legislators should take immediate action to see that this windfall is donated to relief efforts. The amount could be based on the difference in the price of oil prior to and after the hurricane and cover a period of 120 days.

The people of the Gulf states need this money more than we do. If readers agree, please contact your state senator and representative. If the editors of the Peninsula Clarion agree, please support this effort. Make Alaskans proud!
