Realtors, others help make hospice fund-raiser successful

Posted: Friday, September 09, 2005

Hospice of the Central Peninsula board of directors, volunteers and staff would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors and their affiliates. The support and time volunteered in organizing this annual hospice fund-raiser barbecue and auction each spring in May is commendable on their part. They volunteered many months of their valuable time seeking donations and selling raffle tickets and cookbooks.

We want to thank Terri Segesser for chairing the 2005 committee for this fund-raiser. The hospice committee efforts and dedication (contributed) to this very successful event. We appreciate Pat and Myrna Cowan for generously donating their facilities at Soldotna Birch Ridge Golf Course, where this event was held. Thank you to our community for donating items for the auction, buying raffle tickets, cookbooks and for supporting our organization.

Thank you to Spenard Builders Supply for helping with the cost of supplies for the greenhouse. We appreciate the labor donated by Jim Brenton and Steve Crane in building and moving the greenhouse to be raffled.

Additionally we want to thank the cookbook committee chaired by Myla McFarland. They organized and complied recipes given by the Kenai Association of Realtors and their affiliates and together they all assisted in the sale of the cookbooks. The profits made from the sale of the cookbooks were donated to Hospice of the Central Peninsula.

The outcry auction was remarkable with Mark Korting donating his time and talents. The crowd enjoyed his humor as he enthusiastically sold all the items.

The support we receive from the Realtors and their affiliates is deeply appreciated and will help enable us to better serve our community.
