Hot dog feed fund-raiser set

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank in conjunction with America’s Second Harvest will hold a hot dog feed fund-raiser from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the food bank.

America’s Second Harvest negotiates directly with food companies to assist food banks all over the 50 states with food acquisition. They are committed to 100 percent of donations going directly to support the more than 500,000 victims of Hurricane Katrina. With each dollar raised, 15 meals can be provided.

ConocoPhillips employees and contractors will participate the same day at its work site to raise money. For more information, call 262-3111.

Girl Scouts roundup Saturday

Central Peninsula Girl Scouts will host its second annual Girl Scout Roundup from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Central Peninsula Mall. Girls ages 5 to 17 in Anchor Point, Cooper Landing, Kasilof, Kenai, Nikiski, Ninilchik, Soldotna and Sterling areas are eligible to join. Adult volunteers also are needed. Katrina relief concert set

North Kenai Chapel at Mile 29 of the Kenai Spur Highway will host a Hurricane Katrina relief benefit concert at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Featured performers will be Marshall Ellison, pianist, saxophonist and singer from Olympia, Wash., and Judy Rounds Cuddy (Country Jude) of Anchorage. Several musicians and singers from the Nikiski area also will perform. The concert is free but an offering will be taken. Proceeds will benefit victims of the hurricane. Senior service board to meet

The Nikiski Senior Service Area Board will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center. For more information, call Leigh at 776-7654.

Kennel club classes planned

The Kenai Kennel Club is gearing up for fall classes at its facility in the C Plaza in Kenai. Classes include agility, puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate and advance obedience, rally and conformation. Sign-ups also are being taken for a Canine Good Citizen class.
