Kenai resident Mayme Fern Brandt died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at her daughter's home in Kenai. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 at St. Peters Church, 1150 Maxwell Road, in Eugene, Ore.
Ms. Brandt was born in Sidney, Neb., on March 14, 1925. She was the daughter of Robert H. Sellers and Heniretta A. (Sweet) Sellers. She had three brothers and three sisters. She graduated from Elmira High School in Elmira, Ore. On August 29, 1945, at the age of 20, she married Air force Sergeant, Ralph J. Brandt. Ms. Brandt was a dedicated military wife and mother. She was very supportive of her husband and children and always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Mayme and Ralph lived happily together until he fell ill with cancer. Her dedication to her husband was evident by her commitment to be by his side until he passed away on Feb. 11, 2004 after 59 years of marriage. Mayme's life focus was on her husband, five children, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, ceramic's and gardening.
Her family will cherish her memory, her lifelong accomplishments, and her loving and tender disposition.
She is survived by her sisters Goldie Mason of Winchester, Ore., Charlotte Bowman of Eugene, and her children Christine Wheeler of Kenai, Thomas Brandt of Eugene, Gerald Brandt of Ocala, Fla., Barbara Gilbert of Eugene, Susan Maurmann of Garden Ridge, Texas; and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
