The Cooper Landing Sexy Senior Dumpster Cleaners had several projects going on this year dealing with trash and litter. Our regular Monday cleaning of the Cooper Landing, Moose Pass and Hope solid waste transfer sites, the ALPAR Senior-Youth Litter Patrol and securing the Cooper Landing site by opening and closing the gates and Dumpsters every day created some pretty impressive figures as volunteers traveled 8,660 miles, donated 3,524.5 hours and picked up 557 bags or 25,065 pounds of trash.
Our Make a Difference Day project was designed to encourage visitors to help by picking up one bag of trash while enjoying our beautiful state. Our thanks go to Rep. Paul Seaton for recognizing our efforts through a Legislative citation and to the following sponsors who made our efforts possible: 7th Moon Graphics and Web Design, Alaska Rivers Co., Alaska Wildland Adventures, Alaskans for Litter Prevention and Recycling (ALPAR), Chugach National Forest Seward Ranger District, ConocoPhillips, Cooper Landing Community Club, Cooper Landing Historical Society, Cooper Landing Senior Citizens Corporation Inc., Dairy Queen of Soldotna, Fred Meyer, Kenai Cache, Kenai Peninsula Borough Solid Waste Department, Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge, Office Supply Anchorage, Spenard Builders Supply Soldotna, State Farm Insurance Kenai, Summit Lake Lodge, UNOCAL and Wildman's.
