Sandra Jean Chilson died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. She was 55.
A memorial service will be held at 7 tonight at North Star Methodist Church, Mile 25.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski with Pastor John Henry officiating.
Mrs. Chilson was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Seattle. She moved to Alaska in 1971 and attended beautician school, then worked at the Beauty Box in Kenai from 1972 to 1980. She then owned and operated Creative Reflections in Nikiski from 1980 to 1989. She worked as a bartender from 1990 to 1998.
She loved to bowl and play softball. Her favorite hobby was to cook and entertain for family and friends during the holidays. She also loved a good card game with friends.
"Mom cherished her time with all her grandchildren. She loved to spoil them. She always found time for all her friends and family. Her doors were open for anyone in need. She was not only a loving mother, she was a wonderful friend that we will all miss so very much," her family said.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Phyllis Harford.
She is survived by her son, Todd Chilson; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Margo Chilson; daughter, Shanette Wik, and her husband, Shane; grandchildren, Jordan Chilson, Kali Chilson, Justin Wik, Brando Wik, Emma Wik, Crystelle Chilson and Chance Chilson; brothers, Daryl Harford and Larry Harford; sisters, Cheryl Parson and Shirley O'Brien; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
