Wilson vying for state senate seat

Posted: Wednesday, September 10, 2003

KETCHIKAN (AP) Rep. Peggy Wilson is seeking the state senate seat vacated by fellow Wrangell Republican Sen. Robin Taylor.

Taylor is leaving the senate to become a transportation special assistant with the Murkowski administration Sept. 15.

Wilson has served two terms in the House. So far, several other Ketchikan government officials have also expressed interest in the seat.

Gov. Frank Murkowski will appoint someone to replace Taylor from a list of nominees made by the two House Republican committees within his district.

The appointment must be approved by a majority of the Senate GOP caucus.
