Redoubt Elementary

The PTA-sponsored gift and wrapping paper fund-raiser sale began Friday. The proceeds will be used to help Redoubt families in need at Christmas and for many other projects.

Students are reminded that sales should not be made door-to-door but instead by contacting family, neighbors, close family friends and co-workers. All orders need to be turned in by Tuesday.

The site council will meet at 3:45 p.m. today in the conference room. Meetings are open to the public.

The school would like thank the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Jerry V. Horn Memorial Post No. 10046 for its generous annual donation. The donation will be used to purchase supplies, clothing and other school items for students in need of assistance.

Mr. Mills' fifth-grade and Mr. Gossard's third-grade classes were the first two classes to return their emergency forms. Both classes won a pizza party. Ms. Walker's second-graders and Mrs. DeVolld's fifth-graders were the next two classes to return 100 percent of their forms.

Parents who have not returned emergency forms for their children are asked to contact the school office.

Good attendance is critical to student success, but many students still are arriving at school after the 8:50 a.m. tardy bell and missing important information and instructional time. Parents are encouraged to ensure that their students arrive at school on time.

After-school pick-up time is 3:30 p.m. and, with the exception of an emergency situation, all students should be picked up on time.

A meeting for kindergarten parents will be at 6 p.m. Thursday in the library. All kindergarten parents should plan to attend.

Students participating in intramural soccer will work on spirit posters this week. Soccer games will begin Monday Students are responsible for checking the soccer schedule in the weekly school newsletter and arranging for transportation when they have after-school games.

School pictures will be taken Sept. 25. Complete information will be sent home with students prior to picture day.

Donations and volunteers are needed to help with the morning cereal and milk breakfasts. Local community service organizations and volunteers provide the much needed service to Redoubt students every school day morning. For more information, to donate or to volunteer, call Diane Bush at 262-8570.

Parent to Parent, a parenting skills class, is being planned at Redoubt. For more information, call nurse Donna at 260-4306.

Fridays are school spirit and ice cream days. Students and staff are encouraged to wear school T-shirts or the school colors: red, blue and yellow. A variety of ice cream treats are available to students for 75 cents.
