Dennis Leckwee has 13 students in the upper-grade room. Marian Werth and Judy Schmidt have eight students in the lower-grade room.

A warm welcome to students who are new this year: Cole Chase, Todd Burow, Ryan Burow, Luke Burow, Cody Burow and kindergartners David Burow and Hannah Love.

The upper-grade students are digging into earth studies in science, including volcanoes, earthquakes and weather. The upper-graders also completed fall fitness testing and trying for the Presidential Physical Fitness Award. The upper grades are now working on a football unit.

The lower-grade students will begin the year with geography,"A tour of California and Hawaii." Lower-graders also are doing fitness testing and practicing basic locomotion skills through games like "Stagecoach."

The "Mommy and Me" preschool play group will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 18. Parents of preschoolers are invited to attend. Grace Lutheran will open a preschool for 3- to 5-year-olds the first week of October. For more information on either of these preschool programs or the kindergarten through eighth-grade school, call 283-9551.
