Good morning Nikiski residents!

The signs of fall are no longer subtle. We have been busy picking fresh vegetables from the garden and greenhouse, as well as picking a few raspberries here and there.

North Kenai Yoga classes will not meet until Nov. 1 Classes will resume in the Nikiski pool classroom. For more information, call 776-3495.

The Redoubt Homemakers FCE will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nikiski Fire Station No. 1. The group's mission is to promote a better way of life for all through fellowship, continuing education and service to the community.

The Snappy Crafters group will meet at the Nikiski Senior Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The meeting is an open session format, so participants are urged to bring their projects to work on and get great ideas.

North Peninsula Recreation Service Area will hold youth fitness classes Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Different grades will alternate each week. For more information, call Tammy at 776-8800.

There will be a Title 1 and site council meeting today at 3:45 p.m. in the teacher's lounge at Nikiski North Star Elementary school year. The meeting will focus on parent involvement for the 2007-08 school year.

There will be a site council meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Nikiski Middle Senior High School library.

A parent volunteer training session will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in the library at Nikiski North Star Elementary. For more information, call Kellie at 776-5575.

There will be a PTSA meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to Principal Lori Manion, there were more than 400 people at the Nikiski North Star Elementary open house held recently. What a great start to a new school year.

The Nikiski High School homecoming game will be held Sept. 29.

Nikiski High School senior quotes are due by Sept. 15, senior wills by Sept. 20 and pictures are due Sept. 25. For more information, call Justin Smith, editor of the yearbook. Pre-orders of the yearbooks are also being taken.

Nikiski resident Sharon Beth Miller, a sophomore at the University of Oregon, was named to the dean's list.

Miller is a political science major.
