Former Soldotna resident Jake Galley died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 in Blanding, Utah. He was 86.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Galley was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Sidney, Neb. He married his wife, Mabel, on Aug. 5, 1943.
"Dad was quite a character, always had a good story to tell. He worked construction most of his life, several years on the pipeline. Alaska was home since the early 70s. He will be missed," his family wrote.
Mr. Galley was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mabel.
He is survived by his sons, Jim and wife, Pat, of Fairbanks, and Jerry and wife, Kitty, of Blanding; grandsons Ted Galley and family, Jake Galley and family, both of Fairbanks, and Richard Galley and family of Kenai; and granddaughter Amy Baxter and family of Nikiski.
