Semi crushes car on Dalton Highway; Car driver injured ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The driver of a car was rescued Monday after the car was pinned under a semi-trailer on the Dalton Highway.

Details were sketchy, but Alaska State Troopers said workers from the nearby Pump Station Five of the trans-Alaska Pipeline responded and got the driver out of the car after the crash.

Trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said the driver had multiple injuries, but they did not appear life-threatening. A rescue helicopter from Fairbanks was heading for the scene to take the driver to a hospital for treatment.

The driver of the truck wasn't hurt.

Troopers said the accident occurred about 3:45 p.m. at Mile 145 of the highway, just a few miles north of Pump Station Five.
