KDLL board meeting today

KDLL's monthly board meeting will be held today at 7 p.m. at the KDLL studio in the Economic Development District Building, three miles north of Kenai. The meeting is open to the public.

Tri-CARE session slated for tonight

There will be a Tri-CARE question and answer session by a Fort Richardson delegation today at 6 p.m. and Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post No. 20 in Kenai.

Council meeting slated to discuss prison impacts

The Kenai City Council will hold a work session Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Kenai City Council chambers. The purpose of the work session is to discuss the impacts on the city of Kenai of the proposed private prison. It is open to the public.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. has been relocated to the Kenai Senior Citizens Center.

Historical society meeting announced

The Kasilof Historical Society will have its first meeting of the season Thursday. The business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Geologist Richard Reger will be the speaker. It is open to the public. For more information, call 262-2439.

Allergy Network meeting slated

The Peninsula Allergy Network will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Soldotna. This month's topic is back-to-school issues.

Healthy Communities meeting set for Thursday

The Healthy Communities-Healthy People Steering Committee's regular monthly meeting will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Bridges, 145 Kasilof St. in Soldotna. For more information, call 260-3800.

Blindness workshop scheduled

The Kenai Peninsula chapter of Alaska Independent Blind will host a free workshop Sept. 19 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Iliamna Room at the Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. Dr. Edwin Druding and Ruth Druding from Arizona will present the workshop, which will deal with macular degeneration, adjusting to blindness and the stress and depression associated with vision loss and or blindness. Harvest Art Show continues

Planned Parenthood of Alaska, Soldotna Center is holding its second annual Harvest Art Show through Sept. 22 at the Kenai Fine Arts Center. The exhibit showcases the works of area artists in multimedia. All show pieces are available for sale to the highest bidder.

The gala auction will be Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Proceeds will benefit participating artists, the Kenai Fine Arts Center and the Planned Parenthood of Alaska, Soldotna Center. Contact Jackie or Jen at 262-2622 for more information about art entries or the event.
