Hockey registration slated

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association will hold registration from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Soldotna Sports Center. Youth ages 4 to 18 may register.

No previous hockey experience necessary. The first 150 players to register will receive two free tickets to a Kenai River Brown Bears game.

Fishing documentary to show

The Kasilof Historical Association will host a showing of the documentary "The Run," a history of Upper Cook Inlet commercial fishing, and a discussion at 7 p.m. Thursday at Tustumena Elementary School.

Web log class offered

The Peninsula's Yellow Ribbon Club will host a training seminar to teach participants how to create a free Web log. The emphasis will be basic creation of a log and using it to keep in touch with service members.

The class will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Frontier Training School in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The seminar is free to anyone who has a family member who is deployed, deploying or deployable. The teacher will be Kim Coreson.

There is space for 20 people, registration is suggested. For information, call Kim at 262-5223.

ACT hosts assembly forum

The Alliance of Concerned Taxpayers will host a candidate forum with assembly candidates Ed Oberts and Pete Sprauge and school board candidates Gene Dyson and Sammy Crawford at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ginger's Restaurant in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna.

Basketball deadline looms

The Boys and Girls Club in Kenai is accepting registration for the following basketball groups:

* Start smart basketball registration deadline is 6 p.m. Friday. Participants must be a 2007 member and pay a basketball fee of $50. The cost after Friday will be $60.

* Fifth- and sixth-grade basketball registration deadline is 6 p.m. Friday. Participants must be a 2007 member and pay a basketball fee of $50. The cost after Friday will be $60.

Pizza social set to feed

The Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges will sponsor a pizza social at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.

Guest speakers Charlie Blair and Darlene Moegerle from the friends mentoring team will do a presentation on refuges from Maine to Midway Atoll.
