Youth rally tonight

A youth rally will be conducted in the Kenai Church of God at 7 tonight and Saturday. The guest speaker will be Zeb Lewis.

Native fellowship meets tonight

The North Wind Native Fellowship meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Friday of each month at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church, Mile 19.5 Kalifornsky Beach Road.

Every fourth gathering includes a Native potluck.

Family and friends are invited to the interdenominational Native outreach. A children's ministry is provided for children in fourth grade and under.

Church to mark 25 years

The St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Cooper Landing will celebrate its 25th anniversary Sunday with a Mass at 12:30 followed by a barbecue cookout at 1:30 p.m.

Everyone is invited and are asked to bring a dish to share.

At the church, people can experience the Trail to the Cross, the Stations of the Cross and visit the Our Caring Mother of the Handicapped Shrine.

Unitarians resume Sunday schedule

The Soldotna Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship will resume its weekly winter schedule Sunday with a meeting at 10 a.m. at Bridges on Kasilof Avenue across from the Fred Meyer store.

Concert planned for Sunday

The Soldotna Bible Chapel will present a concert by Amy Shreve and Gary Wixtrom at 6 p.m. Sunday

The couple sings and Shreve plays the harp, performing Celtic and contemporary Christian music. The concert is free but people can share financially in the couple's ministry.

The chapel is at 300 W. Marydale Ave.

Women's Aglow celebrates anniversary

The Kenai Women's Aglow will celebrate its eighth anniversary with a special message by outgoing president Teresa Goracke at 7 p.m. Monday in the Salvation Army Chapel, 201 N. Forest Drive in Kenai. All women are invited. For more information, call Dea at 776-7527.

Volunteer to share experience

Volunteer medical worker Mary Jensen will share experiences from her mission trip to Swaziland, Africa, at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Peninsula Christian Center, 161 Farnsworth Blvd. Jensen and her group presented a conference to help Swazi women deal with the AIDS epidemic there and volunteered in medical clinics and hospitals.

Evolution debate to air in Homer

A taped debate between Dr. Dent Hovind and anthropology professor Ben Waggoner on whether the theory of evolution is science or religion will be aired in two parts at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 and Sept. 27 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 210 Pioneer Ave. in Homer. All are welcome and free pizza will be served following each half of the 150-minute debate.

Conference planned for Sept. 21

Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Sterling will host a statewide conference with Paul Keith Davis and Shawn Bolz from Sept. 21 to 25.

The theme of the conference is "Releasing the Glory of God in Alaska." The church is at Mile 81.5 of the Sterling Highway. For more information and registration, call 262-7266.

Fall festival announced

The MoAdim Messianic Fellowship has announced its fall festival schedule.

On Sept. 26, an Erev Shabbat dinner and Rosh Hashana celebration will take place at the Kenai Merit Inn. Admission is free, but reservations are required. The fellowship also will conduct a Rosh Hashana and Shabbat celebration at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 27 at the Kenai Merit Inn followed by Taschlich at the Kenai Beach at 1 p.m.

Special readings are scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 5 for Yom Kippur. On Oct. 6, a dinner is planned for 6 p.m. to break the fast. A family retreat from Oct. 10 to 19 is planned for Sukkot. The cost is $75 per person for the weekend or $150 for the entire week. Everyone is welcome and children under 5 may attend free. Call 283-5621 for more information.

Friendship closet open Wednesdays

The Aurora Heights Assembly of God "Friendship Closet" is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays to meet people's clothing needs.
