LeeShore Center receives grant

The LeeShore Center received a community grant totaling $1,000 from The Fred Meyer Foundation for its emergency shelter.

The center provides a safe, homelike environment for adult and child victims of domestic violence and sexual assault since 1985. Clients are provided with essential material needs while in residence, including foods (special diets are accommodated), clothing, bedding and linens, basic personal hygiene items, as well as diapers and other necessities needed for children.

The grant will be used to purchase food items to help feed women and children residing in the shelter.

The LeeShore Center was chosen on the merits of its programs.

The foundation's community grant program is overseen by 29 area advisory committees made up of area Fred Meyer associates who research nonprofit organizations in their communities and then award community grants.
