The Boys Scouts of America will hold Cub Scout information nights at 7 at the following schools: today at Redoubt and Kalifornsky Beach elementary; and Thursday at Sterling Elementary.

Cheer camp slated
North Peninsula Recreation and Nikiski High School cheerleaders will hold a cheerleading camp for youth in grades two through six. The camp will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. today through Friday at Nikiski North Star Elementary School. Coach Tesa Sturman and the NHS cheerleaders will prepare participants for a performance during halftime of Nikiski's home game on Saturday.

Agrium live fire training continues
Agrium Kenai Nitrogen Operations live fire training for its employees and the Nikiski Fire Department will be held from 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and additional sessions at 7:45 a.m. Thursdays through September at the plant at Mile 21 of the Kenai Spur Highway.
Propane, gasoline and diesel will be used in the training. Occasionally there will be smoke and open flames visible from the highway near the northwest corner of the plant. For more information, call Rick at 776-3162.
Special Olympics potluck Saturday
Special Olympics will hold a potluck from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna.

Walk/run set for Kasilof
Tustumena Elementary School's PTO will hold a 5-kilometer walk or run for students and their families at 1 p.m. Sunday at the school.
Registration forms were sent home with students and also are available at the school. Day of race registration will begin at noon.
The cost to enter will be $5 for students. Older students and adults may enter for $10.
T-shirts are available for $10 per person. The event focuses on encouraging healthy living for young people and adults. For more information, call 262-4844.
