Longtime Alaskan and Kenai resident Mary F. Stroh died Sept. 3, 2010 quietly at home with her family by her side. She was 83.
A celebration of her life will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at the Merit Inn Banquet Room in Kenai.
Mrs. Stroh was born May 13, 1927 in Hopewell, W. Virginia. She had lived in St. Helens and Scappoose, Oregon before moving to Alaska in Oct. 1969. She lived in Nikiski and Kenai.
Mary worked side by side with her husband owning, operating and managing several retail meat departments in Oregon and Alaska. She retired in 1984.
Mary enjoyed gardening and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd A. Stroh, son, Danny B. Stroh, her parents and siblings.
Mary is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Darryl Durfee of Scappoose, Ore., Leslie and Dallas Neely of New Mexico, and Karen Stroh of Kenai; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kelli Stroh and family of Kenai; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Tom Hennessy of California; and sister, Barbara Rutz of Oregon.
Mary requested memorial donations in her honor rather than flowers be sent to KDLL radio station, P.O. box 2111, Kenai, AK 99611 or The Lee Shore Center, 325 S. Spruce St., Kenai, AK 99611.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
