CRAIG (AP) -- A Craig man was killed this week with a chopping tool, and his sometimes roommate is the suspect, police said.

Michael Skrzynski, 46, died Monday night after being struck in the back of the neck with a maul, according to police Sgt. Mark Habib.

The slaying took place in Skrzynski's floathouse in this community on Prince of Wales Island, west of Ketchikan.

Habib identified the suspect as Clinton Baker, 29, who was at large as of Tuesday afternoon. Witnesses reportedly told police that Baker had been at the floathouse with Skrzynski and later fled the scene.

Police said Tuesday that an arrest warrant has been issued for Baker, and that they have alerted airports and ferry terminals in the region to be on the lookout.

Habib wouldn't comment on why the killing may have occurred, or whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
