Homer man dies after his motorcycle hits moose

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A 52-year-old Homer man is dead of injuries sustained after the motorcycle he was riding hit a moose, Alaska State Troopers said Wednesday.

Robin Rader was injured Saturday after his Harley-Davidson motorcycle struck a bull moose at Mile 72 of the Sterling Highway, troopers said.

Rader was not wearing a helmet, according to troopers. Rader was flown to Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna for treatment of a head injury. He died Tuesday night.
