Municipal elections are coming up October 2nd and the Kenai Chamber of Commerce, "The heart and pulse of your business community," has declared September as the "Month of the Educated Voter."
Last week the first candidate forum drew a near capacity crowd to the noon luncheon at the Old Town Restaurant in Kenai. Five of the six candidates seeking election to the Kenai City Council faced off.
The candidates fielded questions ranging from why they were seeking public office to their stands on economic development.
This Wednesday, the "Meet the Candidates" forum will feature the Kenai City Mayoral Candidates, John Williams and Duane Bannock.
The candidates running for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board are scheduled for Wednesday, September 26th.
All luncheons are open to the public and all voters are encouraged to attend. For more information call the Chamber at 283-7989.
Absentee balloting will be available beginning September 17th at municipal offices or absentee ballots may be requested by mail until September 25th or by fax until September 28th. Contact the Borough Clerk's office at 262-8608.
