Beautification committee volunteers needed

Council to hold meeting

State offers help to commercial fishers
Representatives of the Alaska Division of Investments will be on the Kenai Peninsula doing outreach work with commercial fishers next week. The outreach will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Homer City Council Chambers and from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association building.
Appointments are not necessary, but bring copies of 2001 income tax returns and 2002 fish statements to discuss or submit an extension application.

CES board meeting planned
The monthly board of directors meeting for the Central Emergency Services Area will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Station 3, 35202 Sterling Highway. Regular agenda items and reports will be discussed. The public is welcome to attend the meeting.

Homer Community School to hold registeration
Homer Community School is holding registeration for some of its early classes. They are; Basic Life Support, which includes child, infant and adult CPR; and Garden Basket, a basket weaving class for all experience levels. These classes meet Sept. 21. Also, the school is taking applications for a Natural Resources-Technology class. This class will teach resource management, biotechnology, leadership development, wildlife management. This class is also available for high school credit. In addition, the school is offering a Basic CPR and First Aid all day class on Sept. 28. For more information, call 235-6090.
Chamber to hold pie auction
The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will have its annual pie auction Oct. 12. This is the chamber's largest fund-raising event, with part of the proceeds used to support a high school scholarship fund. It will have a Hawaiian theme. Forty-five pies baked by local dignitaries and chamber members will be auctioned. Every pie will have a prize with it, including one with a trip to Hawaii. For $200, people can sponsor a 10-person table, in order to get a business name recognized. Individual tickets are $20. For more information, call 262-9814.
