Women's Aglow to hear Evelyn Glass

Kenai Women's Aglow invites all ladies to hear Evelyn Glass, an inspirational speaker from Delta Junction, share encouragement from the Word of God at 7 p.m. Monday at the Salvation Army, 201 North Forest Drive, Kenai.

Glass is "full of laughter and wisdom and brings a relevant word for all," according to organizers.

Local mothers take part in prayer rally

As part of a national rally, local members of Moms In Touch are hosting nationally known speaker Jan Shockey, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Soldotna Bible Chapel, 300 W. Marydale. Shockey, Pacific regional director of Moms In Touch International, will speak on "Building A Wall Of Prayer."

All mothers from churches from Nikiski to Homer to Seward are invited to the non-denominational prayer gathering. For information about MITI, call 1-800-949-MOMS.

James Grier to speak at Bible conference

James Grier, former president of Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, will speak at the Sterling Baptist Church area Bible conference, which begins Sept. 20 and continues through Sept. 21.

Grier has recently preached and taught at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in Hong Kong and in Bangkok.

Clothing ministry to close temporarily

The New 2 You clothing ministry of the First Baptist Church of Soldotna will be closed until Sept. 21.

The ministry, which meets the first and third Saturday of every month, will reopen on that day with winter hours, 1 to 3 p.m.

Native outreach fellowship to meet

The North Wind Native Fellowship, a non-denominational Native outreach, meets every other Friday at 7 p.m. at Peninsula Grace Brethren, 44175 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Soldotna. The next meeting is Sept. 20.

A children's ministry is provided for children in fourth grade and under. For more information, contact Van or Vide Van Velzor at 260-3293.

Bible study groups planned

Precept Bible Study is currently studying Hebrews at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Soldotna Bible Chapel library.

Precept Bible Study also is studying Hebrews on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Kasilof Community Church. For more information, call 283-9235.

Writers sought for faith anthology

Writers from Alaska are invited to share their own experiences of the power of prayer and faith in an anthology to be published in the latter half of 2003. Those whose works are selected will share in the royalties from book sales.
