UNALASKA (AP) -- An Unalaska man's recent death is being investigated as a homicide, an Unalaska official said Wednesday.
Robert Shapsnikoff, 29, was found dead in the parking lot outside his home Sept. 3, according to James Hasenohrl, director of the Unalaska Department of Public Safety. But witnesses told authorities they had found Shapsnikoff alive in a roadway across town, Hasenohrl said. He declined to say who drove Shapsnikoff to the parking lot.
An autopsy concluded Shapsnikoff died of serious internal injuries probably caused by a motor vehicle, according to Hasenohrl. He said an investigation is focusing on a specific vehicle, and he expects to solve the case within 30 days.
