KCHS announces homecoming events

Kenai Central High School has planned a week of homecoming activities beginning Monday with spirit week. A parade is planned for 6 p.m. Friday, followed by a bonfire at 7 p.m. at the school.

At 11 a.m. Saturday the junior varsity football game begins, followed by the varsity game at 2 p.m. The homecoming dance will be from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Hospital CEO to speak at Kenai chamber meeting

Dave Gilbreath, CEO of Central Peninsula General Hospital, will discuss hospital expansion at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce meeting at noon Wednesday at Paradisos. For more information, call Kathy at 283-7989.

Soroptimists to meet

The Soroptimists International of the Twin Cities will hold its monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at First National Bank of Alaska in Soldotna. For more information, call Brenda at 260-6000.

Youth basketball teams accepting registrations

The North Peninsula Recreation will hold Nikiski youth basketball registration for third through sixth grade coed teams. There also will be fifth- and sixth-grade interleauge teams.

Signups will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Sept. 22 to Oct. 2 at the Nikiski pool, 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 23 at Nikiski Elementary and 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 at North Star Elementary.

Builders association seeking nominees

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association is seeking nominees for the 2004 board of directors. The deadline for applications is Sept. 22. Any members of the association can apply. For more information, call 283-8071.

Hospital service board to meet

The Central Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Illiamna room at the Central Peninsula General Hospital. For more information, call 262-9892.

Clay art show accepting entries

The Kenai Potters Guild is seeking entries for its clay art show in November. It is an open show for Southcentral Alaska potters to exhibit their work.

Discount cards benefit cancer fund

The Soroptimist International of the Twin Cities is selling discount cards to benefit its cancer fund, which is administered by Central Peninsula General Hospital. The funds go to help area women in need of assistance. Cards cost $10, contain discounts for many area businesses and are valid for one year.
